Question regarding the A/C compressor on 3400
Does anyone here on planet earth know what I'm talking about-
on the 3400, theres an air compressor, located on the bottom front left of the engine when you're standing there staring at it.. on this A/C compressor, theres a pulley, and connected to this pulley, theres a clutch and plate.. the NUT that holds this clutch plate onto the rest of this assembly, what size is it, because I took mine off to replace the clutch assembly and lost the nut.
I've talked to a dealer, an mechanic, and 4 different auto parts shops, and they have no idea what I'm talking about and wont get under the car to look at it.
Places visited: O'Reillys, Advance Auto Parts, Auto Zone, NAPA Auto Parts, and "Auto Tech" .. some gimpy ass mechanic shop here, and NIX Chevrolet.

Reason: said "bolt" instead of "nut"

yea the parts men at the dealer suck then. i could have the ones where i work look it up pretty easy if i needed to get one, although the online fische only shows the compressor as an assembly. if i were you i'd try a junkyard first.
edit: you should pm alerored04, he has a gagt he is parting out. maybe he could pull the nut off for ya

I'd much rather find out the size of said nut so I can simply run down and buy one for roughly 30 cents - 1 dollar instantly vs waiting for the little bastard to be shipped to me lol

^ reason being, every time I kick my newly installed compressor clutch to ON, it nudges the clutch plate back a little bit, and its knocked back so far now that it wont even kick on.
so I need to re-torque the clutch plate on, and then put the bolt on to get my AC back. I miss my ice cold air that you can see your breath in.
plus its extremely hot and humid here.

anyone figure this out yet.. the nut thats threaded on the bolt in the middle of the pulley on the AC compressor.
thanks in advance for gettin filthy / crawlin up underneath your cars.
not sure if its a 10 or not. I'm about to go down and buy one of each nut they have that i think is the right size and see what happens.

sorry for the wait midgear, i haven't had any time the past few days and i'm not sure about my schedule the next few days.
Your best bet is to call a few auto part stores around you and find one that has an A/C compressor for the alero and go there.
tell them what happened and you need to find out what size nut goes on the clutch plate, usually aap or autozone are cool with it.
but hopefully someone has a spare ac compressor sitting around they can check

Chances are high its a metric and a metric flanged nut.
In other words, you WONT be getting one locally.
Just head to a junk yard and pull one.
