Wtf is this hole for?

Im replacing the head gaskets and when i was draining the coolant from the block i found this hole. anyone know what it goes to or what its for?

Its the hold below piston #4

HOW THE HECK, did you get the dipstick out??

removing the heads with the dipstick still in was a real PITA.

You can bend the bracket that bolts the dipstick to the head. The tube is pressed in and has an O ring on it. Pull on it once it is unbolted and you can get it to come out.

first you don't know what the whole is for, then you figure out it is for your dipstick, then someone brings up Afugy's "new box." maybe this should be put into the off topic page......doesn't sound like y'all are talking cars nomore.
