^^ Exactly!!! Piece of cake!
Or if you want to do it another way, have your little brother or sister run into the mirror with their backpack on and knock the whole assembly off...................

If I get those Grand am mirrors, I'll play around with my old mirrors and try out that oldsmobile symbol look.
Can you see the LEDs through the mirror during the day when they aren't on? If not, then what I might do is do a Oldsmobile symbol in blue leds, then amber turn signal arrow with it. That way at night, both mirrors have the oldsmobile symbol glowing in the mirror and the turn signals will flash over it, or beside it.... however it ends up. lol

off picture
you will not drill thru the glass. i drilled thru then went back thru with a flat bottom drill to clean out the hole.

im going to paint the back black so the back light is null.
maybe try cut out the symmbol out of plexy then mount the leds in that so it is one big light. the plexy will let the light connect the leds. then paint the back black. and the edges between the two lines in the middle of the oval.

the light is goin to have about 65 leds in it with flashing left and right. the brake will over ride the flashing.

With the correct and properly shapened bits those holes are easily drilled. You also need a light touch with the drill. Guys always just sit there and plop the bit down and "Crunch".

i cut it out of a peice i had in the garage. yea i drill all 65 holes. layed them out an center punched them ( lightly). then drilled them on a press. i used a jig saw th cut and a rotozip to trim. i use to be a tool and die maker so this kinda precision im not a stranger to. take your time stay calm or you will f it up.
drill speed is important to. fast i ran 1900 rpm with .194 hole (leds are .192). nice press fit.
i made a clear cover too that im going to frost in stead of the red lens

i've done my share of plexi work, i just know with them that close, if your not really careful (sounds like you have experience) you can crack it...
but a drill press makes sense. thats the piece i lack, which makes it a pain. doing something like that w/ your average hand drill would be insane.

i don't know yet. not now but i might in the future. you never know what i might do. Im borded out of my mind (shoulder op keepin me out of work for 5 months)
the eclipse is run by computer usb and pic chips
im looking into programing pic chips for cutom display kits. just a cost issue right now.
for now im just going chasing third brake light with left/right chasing and brake. i might tie the mirror arrows in to it so it chases from center of brake light thru leds then arrow flash and repeat.
this is in the future on a bigger scale (100's of leds )
www.hackedgadgets.com
after i work the bugs out i might make a few third brake light kits to sell to reaplace some of my cost. if so the price will reflect the actual cost not very inflated. interested?.
my cost for the parts is around $30 (bought parts not including stuff i had plexy, drill bits, solder, ect ) so around $50 + shipping
im not looking to brake the bank. i enjoy doing it and it keeps me sain.
