Recommend me a sub/speakers
i want to put a small sub in my scoobie... and i want some speakers. mine are horse crap. i was thinkin an 8" sub would be fine, might do it in the rear deck unless i find somewhere better. i'll be fiberglassing kick panels for smaller round speakers... 5-6" in the front, or possible just replacing my door speakers. same for the rear doors. i want to stay inexpensive, possibly even second hand stuff... so if you have anything i might want, let me know, and if you have any recomeendations, also let me know... same goes for an amp. i doubt i'll amp the speakers, just the sub...

Couple one of these up with the comp set I got for Heineck and you will be good:

I can look for an amp later.
Get me a budget!

mmm... 150 for 4 speakers... round, 5.25 up front and 6 in back
maybe 150 for the sub/amp combo... but that's pushin it. secondhand would be good... i dont want to pound, i just want to enjoy the music. need not even hear it outside the car. i was thinkin 8" for the deck as 12 wont fit nor is the wavelength short enough to be very good so close to the listener.

Orion amp will be great even in a small version.
I still have a spare 150.2 Orion Cobalt and it was very impressive.

Which comps were those? I'm looking for some 6"/6.5" comps for my new Caliber, without breaking the bank. Want good low end out of them. Stock speakers in the Caliber are 6x9 at all 4 doors.

Well you get what you pay for.
If you want an $90 set you will get a $90 set. Ive been there and done that. They were even Bravox at that...
Rear speakers are a total waste, period. In the Alero with a subwoofer rear speakers are the worst thing there is, period.
Those fronts are $150 + ship- Heinecks was $170 as that was just a round number at the time...
$150 comps will make more and better sound overall than 2 set of $75 speakers. Sheer quality will outdo quantity in this area.
$150 for a sub and amp?
Doable maybe with a lower end sub and a decen American Bass amp.
I think I can do it, or come close.

Ryan, thanks for all the info... now hook me up. lol. I'll need a good set of front speakers, a small sub, i still want something like an 8, and something to power it... I will probably be building a box into the trunk... possibly even porting it into the cabin or makign room on the rear deck. if this would get me any more quality... if not, then i'll forget that idea... anyway... narrow it down for me. my music of choice is rock, some metal, a little rap/R&B, and country... so no bass mechanix for me. lol. also, i will be running everyhting off the stock HU as i want to keep my 6-disc in-dash.

I think there's a typo on that web site. There's one too many zeros on that price tag for my budget

Who is we?
And you own that place?
Cadence does provide a decent product, dont get me wrong- IN ITS PRICE CLASS. $150 components, sure... $650 comps, not a chance...
Looking at that website you want to compete with Rainbow and the likes... LOL to ya.

This is the scary part.
If you do this you need a line out converter. They usually suck balls.
I have a good one available, trouble is its not $10...
This would work nicely, but it comes at a cost of $140...

The only other trusted solution would be from David Navone:
