Its not that it wouldnt look "good" its just there is such a huge margin for it to be botched. And its more than just the wood, its how it flows, how it looks, the angles, the color scheme of the car, there are so many factors that are making an epic fail all that much more likely.

Well in the case of the S-10. Nothing else coordinates with it. Also the laminate needs fasteners as you can tell compared to a house install where the glue or tongue and groove holds it.

I just came up with it, I can't believe somebody didn't think of it first. I need to trademark it.

I like the idea but in the S10 its crap for previously specified reasons and also it doesn't make a nice flat floor. You have a valley so there is gonna be a mix of carpet and wood. I know its okay in a house but this is a car. You might consider diamond plate before this

But I think the trunk would be an easier place to do it, and it would make it easier to keep clean.

Yeah but easier to scratch too.
I would think the trunk alone would be fine but only that. The floor would still need mats because the earth is dirty

the problem with only doing the trunk is now it's not going to flow with the rest of the car, and it will look tacky when the lid is open or the back seat is down

But if the trunk did look really good i could go from there to trying to do that with the rest of the car.
