Sudden alternator whine????

I purchased a new amp 5 channel just to run a small system since i have gone more to the performance route. i installed the new amp and came to discover it is not working correctly, so i re-installed my old amp with all the same wiring the same as it was before, the amp is just mounted horizontal instead of vertical. now i have alternator whine, why?
i didnt have it before?

Possibly look into grounding your RCA's while you are back behind the head unit. This has solved a few issues on my part in the past.
