ATF trans fluid amount

I've searched I thought I read somewhere before how much trans fluid to use. I'm flushing and putting in Roual purple in. getting a 12qt case from rpmoil.com 4 dollars cheeper a qt then most autostores. same with the engine oil. but I hope 12 qts are ok.. I thought I read somewhere 11qts
anyone know for sure before I put my order in? thanks adam

7.4 quarts if you're just dropping the pan and changing the filter. 10.6 for a complete overhaul.

Thats assuming you've got the 4T40E.

I've been told several times that its a bad idea to put synthetic in it as it can kinda mess with the transmission. Throw shift codes and not shift properly etc. But then someone will tell you that they're running royal purple with no issues. So just be forewarned.

our trans run with ful synthetic already so i dont see any problems with it.. well i got the 12 qt case should have it by friday next week saved like 50 bucks getting everything from royalpurple.com insted of pepboys or murrys considering i'd have to run to 3 different stores to get everything i needed now just to find the time to go do it at my stepdads shop.. thats gonna be the fun part

Well got Trans Fluid, Oil and sparkplugs changed at 114,000 miles shifting much better runing alot smoother.. changed the coolant back at 100k next clean my k&n air filter, new carpet and window tint
