pull the clip out of the front side of the knob, using a flat head screwdriver.

Then, just pull it off.

^ Hey SilverKnight, it doesn't feel like it is going to work at all, and takes some force. I'll try describe better.

Put it in neutral, and then pull straight up on the knob with alot of force, now as you are pulling it off try twist side to side. As you twist it side to side, you should feel it starting to give. Keep going, twisting more and more as you can.

That is all.

Lemme know if it works.

Are you serious???

Maybe older ones were glued on or something.. I guess just cut it off and tell us what you found inside that was keeping it on so good. (cut the knob, not the shaft so you can check it out)

Hmm, I have the ecotec with the Getrag and mine came off- albeit with a set of Robo-grip pliers. get a set of robogrips or channel-lock pliers and give it a twist. You should get it off without causing too many marks on the original knob. BTW, a lot of knobs won't work too well with our shifters, with the reverse lockout and all. The one I tried had to be mounted so high on the shaft it actually made my throw LONGER- probably better off saving up the $150 for the B&M short throw.
