Kicker Box

Ok i just got a free kicker comp 10" in a box thats too small, don't get me wrong this thing sounds amazing and is in mint condition but I want to see what it can do ported, when i got specs for it the recommended ported box
Recommended Vented Box Volume:
* SPL/Deep Bass: 1.75 cu/ft; 1.5" x 10.5" port opening; 13.25" port depth

Ok and it can handle down to 30hz, but when i put the box specs into the calc to match 1.75cu it tells me the hz will be around 16. When i replace the 16hz field with 32hz it gives me a port depth of 1.5in. Any insights?

This will yield you 1.70ft^3 tuned to 34Hz. Honestly, on that driver I wouldn't be super concerned with the "LOW" lows. A 34Hz tuning will allow you to drop lower than you think. Since this box is at the upper of Kicker's recommended specs you will want to do your best not to overpower it. This is a svc woofer so look into an amplifier with a rating of 300rms at either 4 or 8 ohms depending on your specific woofers impedance.

And the frequency response is a general rating. You can play below that, but for this driver and your experience level, I would shy away. With a 34Hz tuning you will still be able to play 30Hz, but I would be careful.

Yeah im not looking to break it or shake my windows but honestly i traded it for a 150W amp for a guy wanting to power his interiors. I am just looking to see if this little thing has some balls lol. My Amp

SO considering the sub is 4ohm it will be seeing -50W its max rms...Meh I need a new amp...Not just because of this sub, but I have been wanting to find something better.

Edit: The sub is actually 300 max 150rms so I'm overpowering 100W

Off of that amp you will be just fine for now. To compensate for lack of power it is good to put the subwoofer into an oversized box as larger enclosures are more "efficient." In 1.7ft^3 it should sound great! A Hell of a lot better than in some pre-fab. lol

I have had a few amplifiers in the area that you are probably looking for but they all sold. Though my current amplifier is for sale.

Probably a little bit out of your range though. lol

I have personally used both Hifonics with no complaints. They do rated at 14.4V. I also have friends that have used the Audiopipes and swear by them.

Don't care for? Reason why? lol

And if you are looking for 1500wrms @ 2-ohms, you are going to find amplifiers that are in the 2200-3000 range @ 1-ohm. Which you will have trouble finding for $200.00.

ok i have a buddy with a 1 kicker L7 in an eclipse in a custom built box running it off a 500w amp and it sounds great BUT that's the same amp that he has used from day one with his first stereo in his car.... ik its kinda off topic but still on topic.....

he's hooking me up with whatever he isn't using when my car gets fixed (engine dropped in), he has sold alot of his subs he had 4 pairs of L7's 2 L5's and a pair of eclipse 10's, now just 2 L7's both in custom boxes and idk what else
