New Member from NV

Hi All,

I own a '00 Alero GL with the 2.4 and 130,000 miles on it. I have a major problem and I hope someone can help me. The water pump bearing is going bad. I've been told that if it goes, I'm screwed. I've also been told I would need to replace the pump and the timing chain. Does anyone on the forum have experience with replacing the water pump? Exactly where is the pump located on the 2.4? What is the procedure for replacing the pump and timing chain? Any help, suggestions or comments would be appreciated. Are there any Alero owners from Las Vegas on the forum?

welcome! i dont see why you need to replace the timing chain with the water pump.

edit: i did some research and it seems those two do in fact go hand in hand.

seems you have to take off the left side engine cover to access it.

now look here for the extreme details of assembly
