Diameter Question

Does anyone know the Inside Diameter and Outside Diameter of the valve springs on the 2.4?

Same question for the retainer as well.

valves and spring

spring pressure closed: 50-55lbs @ 1.44"
spring pressure open: 122-133lbs @ 1.06"
spring diameter lower end: 1.2018"
spring diameter upper: .8XXX"

Intake valve
length: 4.227"
installed height: .9787"-1.002"
head diameter: 1.396"-1.399"
stem diameter: .2331"-.2339

Exhaust valve
length: 4.259"
installed height: .9787"-1.002"
head diameter: 1.137"-1.147"
stem diameter: .2326"-.2334"

Deciding to purchase from comp cam but first I need to know is these springs will work or not? Secondly does anyone know where I can get some lighter valves?

Spring pressure seated: 75lb
spring diameter: 1.159"
coil bind height: 0.964"
spring rated: 228lb

And my final question, (Germ you might be of help here) can I use factory torque spec on the head or do I need to torque further running boost?

I did a little more searching and found this info from superwhitealero

the problem is he never gave any answer to what valves, springs and retainers he purchased. Does anyone know?

Superwhitealero was last on jan 2006

Yet another question.... there seems to be a break as far as valve springs and retainers are concerned Half the people in old threads say it's a waste of money, and the other half are saying it is necessary.....anyone care to weigh in on this?

I'm porting and polishing the cylinder head and installing the secret cams, and stainless valves. I also plan on supercharging the car and running either rc440 or rc330 injectors.

Do I really need new springs and retainers or am I just wasting my money? I'm just worried about floating the valves after I spend all of this freaking money on the engine.

his new name is super white alero1, LOL, and he's on very often.

www.carcustoms.net has some nice valvetrain items.

You're wasting your money if you aren't revving past 6,800 RPMish.

And 330cc injectors? The kit comes with 310cc. If you're changing injectors, you go at least 440.

Looks like I'm going 440 then.........thanks again for all the info, you've all been a lot of help so far. Hopefully this turns out as well as I'm planning.

I've contacted induction dynamics to see what kind of springs they use. I'm still waiting on a reply. As soon as they email me back I'll post up the information so everyone on here knows.

ID uses Crower, dual springs. And stock will hold fine up to 7200 rpms.

Edit: P.s. revving that high will wear the hell outta the chain guides. I suggest you get a few of those if you shifting the redline.

you only need 440cc injectors if you're planning on making 280-350'ish hp.

i don't know how big the secret cams are but, even if you aren't revving super high in the rpm range, like me you may need a stiffer spring to compensate for the big lift in an aftermarket cam, in which case you also need to think about the lifters as well....

I will be getting lifters. I haven't purchased them yet because I am waiting on the right springs. Once I can figure out the part number I will be getting them. I plan on getting the crower dual springs that are mentioned above, but there are two different types, one is for drag racing the other is for circle track. I also need to make sure that they will actually fit (obviously)

make sure the spring seat pressure is good for the secret cams, but not too stiff........

is our camshaft considered flat tappet hydraulic or roller hydraulic?

I was pretty sure it was roller hydraulic but I want to make sure really quick.
