I'd say go the extra 150 for the coated, but they may discolor in time due to the heat. The uncoated turned black, But I like the look.
I really didn't have a choice, it was get these or nothing at all. Like I said I bought them off a GAGT.com member.
The coated would be good for the bling effect, and I've heard hold in heat better, but what ever you decide, do yourself a huge favor and buy header wrap. Not for the headers, but for the wires under the headers. Wrap them up in it. It will give off an oor for a little while but it will go away. Get the stuff rated to 2000 degrees, the next lowest is 1500, and on a hot summer day at the track I got my downpipe up to 1400 (where my EGT probe is) so the headers where probably around 1600.

yeah coupe it was a pain in the ass, i'm a diesel mechanic, so putting headers on my car was interesting, the hardest part was getting the stocker manifolds out, the dam heat shields were a pain, i ended up cutting them out. the rest was easy.

Yeah i hear ya man, mine took almost 8 hours. It was my first time attempting an install like this. Of course i took my time every step of the way.

Sounds good RedDog, i will order headers sometime in the next few weeks. The 500 Dollar S&S Coated Headers. I am alittle unsure what u mean by wrap under the headers?

You could use it on the headers, but I would just wrap up the wires for the starter and knock sensor with it

ceramic coating is not for the bling affect.
It serves an actualy purpose. It keeps the exhuast velocity at it shighest peak by keeping the heat inside the piping. Which in turn keeps the temps down inside your engine bay. If they are ceramic coated you do not need to wrap them, your just waisting money and time not to mention voiding your lifetime warranty. Also ceramic coating keeps them from rusting. If you buy non coated, using header wrap is even worse, becuase the wrap will hold in moisture and make them rust even faster. Header wrap is just a bad idea period. Also no need to wrap any of your wires, non of my wires are wrapped and i have had no problems nor has anyone else.

i was gona get the SS headers but i bought TOGs on GAGT.com
OT:
what about powder coating the headers black. i jut bought scweppe's TOGs. i have a glossy black powerder coated ported UIM and glossy black powder coated valve covers. i am gonna powdert coat my CAI tubing black also. how would powdercoting the headers last. my 62 billet TB is shiny and so is my 3400 SFI lettering so that will stay like that, but i relly want to do this to my headers
any thoughts

It will last but it wont hold in the heat as well as a ceramic coating. At best it will stop your headers from rusting. IIRC schweppes are ceramic coated so why mess with a good thing?

Try donkeypunchperformance.com or rsm i think it is. I know TOG's have had good reviews that i have seen but they are also more exspensive.

You have to call to order just the ceramic coated headers.
For some reason they dont list them seperate. Smart marketing really, if they list the whole package and not anything seperate it makes most people think they have to order the whole package.
