First Off: Ok, So I know I should of asked this a long time ago, but do others have issues with there cars lack of power and torque after 1st gear? lol Everytime I am at the track, my first gear is great, and I usually can keep up with other "street cars". But then after that, :Sniff Sniff: that great power is first gear goes bye bye. I am pretty positive that is everyone elses issue also correct?

Second: What is the best modifications to fix this issue, the DHP Chip help in that category at all? Do they make gears for our car to correct such a poor issue? I understand the DHP standard PCM 1.0 has the following options, is the Removes "40 MPH WOT Lag" what I am talking about or the powerband option or what? Get back to me guys as I am interested to hear your anwsers.

Standard options:

Speed limiter removed
3-1 and 4-2 skip shifts
Transmission line pressure increased
Shift points moved (5800-6000rpms)
Fan turn on points altered as follows:
186 degree F turn on
2 minute fan on at key-off (this feature activates when engine coolant is 179 degrees or greater)
MAF calibration adjusted for proper year
Enriches fuel delivery for critical problem areas
Provides a consistent power gain across the entire power band
Reduces spark retard (knock retard)
Removes "40MPH WOT lag"

Wait what?
Whats the Intense Chip ?
And you are saying you are getting most of your power after 2nd. In my Alero, my torque and major HP comes in first gear. Since it takes me from 0 - 45 MPH ish. As soon as I shift, the power goes to hell it seems.

Well, in most of my "track races" per say, I noticed that I mostly hang with cars off the line, and slowly pull away from them as we speed up. There is noticeably more power in my car after about 3500rpm. Though, every car is gonna be a little different, I have noticed that my cars fastest gear is I believe 2nd. I never really remember burning anyone off the line. Again, could just be my specific car tho.

My car seeems to do great in first gear. I have the 2.5 inch exhaust with a mandrel bent exhaust setup with a vortec muffler to dual outlets. I think I have alot more torque then normal in first.

Well, I couldnt find a list of mods that you already have, but in any situation, the DHP will help out and enhance any mods you have. The other would be headers. Again, not sure if you ahve them already.

Well, a DHP would probably squeez a little more out of your top end. Headers would definitly increase the flow up high as well.

If you plan to get more mods, maybe a PCM tuner is in order. HPTuners has one and so does DHP.

hmm in that case, i would look into your pulley department. once i changed my crank pulley to an underdrive. you could see a significant difference in second gear. the car pulled so much harder. also snag up a lightened alt pulley or water pump (if its still around, Redogknows)

your 2.5 exhaust is great on high end. but have you considered changing your cat to a high flow. it benefits, to me it basically just seemed like the car wasnt struggling to build up backpressure.

also the new PCM will alter your fuel curves to ensure better mid range and high end power. but the onyl draw back is your car will require a higher octane for the adjusted retard by the PCM. and with gas prices around 2.50$ for 93 octane its really up to you, if you have the money.
