Sealed or Ported/vented for Kicker 15

Hey I have 1 Kicker 15'' L7 wired to run at 2 ohms. I have not gotten a box yet, I can not decide weather to get a Sealed or Ported. I have read many different things but can't really decide what would be best in the alero.

last time i had it explained (in the easiest terms) ported is better if you want it louder, sealed if you want it clearer.

stereo systems don't matter at all, for the car. it all depends on your ear, and how you want it to sound so you enjoy it.

Generically speaking the above is correct to a point.

A ported box will be as loud as 2 speakers in a sealed box.

Due to the sub you have I advise you to go ported. Beware of the prefab junk out there. Thats pretty much 99.9% of the boxes that are under $100 including all them super crappy E bay boxes.

Have your local shop make it or do it yourself. Determine what freq you want the box and maybe some on here can give you a round about number that works for our cars. I'm trying to get a 12" DD from a friend with a custom box at I think 40hz. Should be awesome. Good luck!

Almost every one of the E bay boxes are stapled or nailed together. Not so much of an issue for the Kicker as there isnt many square subs out, but when dealing with rounds be careful of the cutout... Sometimes to small, sometimes way to big.

If you got the tools do it yourself. If not then buy it from someone who cares about what they do.

As for E bay Ive sold 1 box on there and will never do it again. I only had 1 bid and pretty much made it for free...
