well being that ive gone through wires at least 5 times already i know that my problem is a misfire due to a plug or wire. My question is: are wires and plugs any of you would recommend? Until now the dealership has replaced the wires and plugs but since there is no more warranty I wanna do something different, something that hopefully wont burn out so fast. Any recommendations? I dont know if it matters if you have any mods or not but I dont have any engine mods right now but im planning some for the spring. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have heard that MSD wires are very good, that is what I am gonna get. You can find them on APOC and www.doctorspeed.com

I got new wires recently, and the dealer said that now they were warrantied for as long as I owned the car. I'm out of warranty too, this was just from the dealer. I don't know if any other dealers do that, but you might want to check. They all offer some sort of warranty on their work, so if you've had the same problem over and over they didn't catch something or it's bad parts, which they should replace anyway.

Stay away from Taylor's, I've heard. But yea, MSD I think has decent wires.

Why are you going through wires so fast? Make sure that they are not touching the exhaust manifold when you install them. I had this happen to me after I changed my wires to Accels. The rubber coating burned through and caused the wire to arc. I just replaced the wire and then put some wire loom around it and made sure that it was far away from the exhaust.

^^well i dont know why im going through them so fast. it doesnt look like theyre gettin toasted...i bought the car used and i called oldsmobile about it and they have a record showing the previous owner had the same problem. so the good news is that they said if its the same problem im almost definately getting cost assistance. But i dont think i even wanna deal with them anymore as i wanna go with something else...im definately considering msd. can anyone recommend any good plugs to go with those wires?

www.doctorspeed.com recommends NGK V-Power Spark Plugs...any comments???

NGK is for japanese cars, get plugs made in the country the car was built in, this is VERY common from many, many enthususiasts. NGKs in Jap rides, bosch in german rides, champion in the US. Also remember, copper is for performance and platinum is for longevity; and multi elctrode plugs are a joke.

^thanks for the info. I brought my car to autozone today and the code registered was P0113...any ideas? Like I said Im pretty sure its a misfire but i just wanna make sure before I order my stuff.

MY check engine light came on last week also. I today went over to the autozone and the guy checked it out for nothing. mine was emission control. So he checked out the gas cap, everything was fine. Till I told him that last week when i went to put gas in my car, (the engine came on the day before) the gap wasnt on all the way, and that had triggered the sensor light to go off. So he reset it, and no light since then. (knock on wood.) I was very glad it wasnt' anything major, and not a single penny came out of my pocket. Yippie!

well guys i brought the car in to have it fixed. They said my l;ight was triggered due to "Open circuit at connector circuit 2760 IAT sensor and PCM--repaired wiring and replaced 2 connectors and recheck operation"

well my only response is wtf was he doin when he rechecked operation?
on the way home i beat it up a lil and what i experienced was my car not shifting properly...like really fugged up. anyway i made another appointment. luckily ive got an aftermarket warranty that paid for everything...including that PITA mofo hazard button. but now my car is hardly driveable...oh well ill see what happens monday.

Does anyone know if my problem now can be due to the repair service that i had done???

I hate dealerships. It seems almost everytime you take your car in, they can't seem to get it fixed on the first try. In my past experiance with my Mazda, I don't think they once fixed that car on the first try. I always ended up having the same problem or a worse problem by the time they got finished. I hope my Alero never has to go to the shop :P
