Hello and im a noob

Hello my name is Christian Sanchez I'm 19 and i live in Cali.
I'm new to the forum and i know almost nothing about cars.
well i just wanted to introduce myself and learn about the Alero.
I recently started commuting to school and i have to drive the family car
which is the 2000 Oldsmobile Alero GX 2.4L. The car was originally purchased by my brother in 99 and then given to my dad. The Alero has been nothing but faithful up until last year when the car was in a minor(or so we thought) accident because of my other did not see a divider. Well since the car was in operable for about a few months. Then my dad decided to fix it. The car ran great for a few months then the engines timing messed up. Well the car was basically f'ed up because since my brothers minor accident the engine began to feel weak and slow. Well we took it to a mechanic and it turns out the engine was basically F'ed and the few months that it ran were luck because the engine didn't go out on us. Well we purchased a used engine that had 50 some thousand miles and had it replaced. The new engine feels very powerful. It doesn't feel slow and tired like the previous engine.Well i don't know how long engines last but i think 8 years of abuse will wear it down.
Well there was the history of the families Alero.
