Thumbs up Convert stock airbox to Wai

Here is a simple (and free mod) anybody with a 10mm socket wrench, knife(or some sort of cutting tool to cut plastic), and about 30 minuets of time can do.

Convert the stock airbox to a Warm Air Intake. Here's what I did. Basically I removed all of those crappy baffles that are lodged in the fender well and cut open the little intake hole on the stock airbox to increase flow. Simple. Here's a small diagram of what i'm talking about:

(Dashes represent air)

Throttle body <--- Very small little mini box shaped baffle (this can be removed and that hole can be pluged up with a PVC pipe end) ---- Stock tubing to air box ---- airbox to baffles in fender well--- small oval shaped intake behind head light housing --- air

Anyways, here's what you do,

Jack up the car (not necessary, you can do it with the car on the ground too, just a bit harder).

Turn wheel all the way to the left, Remove fender well plastic stuff (about 7-8 10MM bolts hold this on).

Then unbolt that overly large piece of crap baffle thing and remove rectangular tube that connects it to the air box.

Once that is done you can either, call it a day and leave the stock air box with that little rectangular hole to suck in air Or cut open that little rectangular hole and make it bigger. You can be creative with that last part and make your opening as big as you want.

Anyways here is some pics of mine,

^^ That's what it will look like when you are done That red oval represents stock rectangular tube that went from baffels to airbox.

^^ Better pic of inside of fender well, mmm look at all of that space for a CAI

^^ Pic of opening I cut in stock air box. In the end, I dont know if it adds any HP but it sure does help the engine breathe better. Also it sounds really nice. Best of all, it can be done for free

Whats stupid about the ebay intakes? They're short, with smooth piping and a filter that flows better. This looks like something a high school student would do to the alero his parents bought him.

You can also register your bank account.... You give them your info, they make two or three deposits into your account(between 1 and 10 cents) you thell them the amounts and... BAM!!! you now have paypal!

The only problem doing it this way is you have to wait for the payment to clear from your bank before they ship your item, or you can transfer money into your "paypal account" and carry a balance to make the payments instant.

there is a better chance of you losing hp from this "mod" then gaining, although it will be an unnoticeable number, so your statement is false

the stock intake system is a mid-filter CAI. what you did was turn it into a low-flow WAI. you did nothing for your performance, and took out the intake resonator so now it sounds louder. that's all you did.
