Camshaft position sensor

Ok, before I start, Im not a noob and I did abuse the search button. I am fairly mechanically savy but I have an issue I have never encountered. My car is throwing a code for the Camshaft position sensor. It still runs fine and is not giving me any reason to worry much. should I replace the sensor or is this something I can ignore for now?

replace the sensor, because if it's not faulty sensing it's quite a bit more serious

I have not ever heard of that sensor going bad (although anything is possible). You'd be wise to inspect the wiring harness first (maybe it got unplugged from the main harness).

My'n went bad slowly. By the time I replaced it the car was running ruff. Do it now before it kicks you in the ass.

May sound odd, but when my gas cap wasn't closed tight, it threw me the camshaft code. Weird I know.

Doubt it idno or the people at autozone are retarded because thats where I brought it when my service engine light came on. They told me it was my camshaft sensor, then they said it also could be my exhaust system? After I heard them tell me these things I checked my gas cap just to make sure that wasn't throwing the code and what do I see, the gascap not screwed in properly. Screwed it in right, code when away.
