Well I was lookin at my headers the other day and saw this and was pretty unhappy but I talked to tog today and they will send out the new front by the end of the week so all cool now but now I have to tear down again but i was waiting to install the new thermostat so this kinda works out. Even though this happened to the header I still must say tog is one of the best because as soon as he saw the picks he said he would send me a new one.

Yeah they're very few that still care about reputation. Since your doing it again, you could make a HOW-TO on installing TOG headers. Just a thought. I'm sure some people on here would find it useful.

John at tog said that it looked to be that the coating was breaking down and so I guess that it would be rust but not sure but it looks like it. But if you want to know how to do the headers just go to togs site and download it, but there are more things to do than what they say so in you ahve any questions just let me know.

No i don't have any questions, i'm not doing the install right now. I just figured a fellow alero guy might want to document it. Help the others out who plan on doing this.

Yep that what you get when you buy the best because there is a lifetime warranty for these headers and as long as its not something that you do to them then they will replace them.

The old headers will be sent to the coater tostrip and recoat.
Swaping them out just minimizes down time.
this is 1 of 3 or 4 know cases of rust
All of which seem to be from areas that salt the roads.
TOG has produced right arround 100 of the 3400 headers. so 3-4% isint bad but still frustrating to the customer.
John over at tog is going to see whats going on.
We thought it may have been a bad batch or somthing but we have seen it from different batches and both ceramic coatings that TOG has used.
No cases have been seen with the standard nickel finish though.
alsmost seems like the headers were contaminated in the coating process or somthing due to how random it is.
john told me the headers undergo a 5 stage acid dip process before being coated so nothing is left on the metal.
however we are still looking into whats up.
if you have any questions or notice what appears to be rust on your headers, please contact either me or john at TOG directly.
