So I went to take my car in to get the coolant flushed and filled, cheapest place was pep boys. After dropping my car off I got a call back, the guy told me that the coolant was contaminated, they wouldn't even flush it. Basically told me to take it to a dealer

Ok, so it's goin to a dealer instead soon, granted it's a lower intake gasket how should i go about the situation. Anyone here that's been in the same situation?

Can they still be talked into the 50/50 split on this one, should i call olds hotline?

any help would be appreciated. Taxes are goin into pads and rotors, whatever i've got left to spend now is gonna have to end up goin to a new gasket more than likely.

How many miles do you have? If it's over 60,000, I'm sorry, but you're SOL.
If it's under 60,000, take it to the dealer first, preferably one you've dealt with a lot. Ask them really nice to split the cost with you and their goodwill money. Tell them you know it's a really common problem, and you personally know several people who've gotten it paid for. If that doesn't work, call 1-800-442-OLDS. Tell them your problem, and that you'd like help paying for it, if possible. They'll only give it to you if you've had your car serviced at the dealer a lot, and you've had the problem diagnosed. So mabye when you're at the dealer, have a mech take a quick look at it, it's easy to diagnose.
