Manifold installation

Howdy.

I'm planning on ordering a set of intake manifolds and a new TB in the near future and am trying to anticipate any problems in the installation. From my adventures with the search button I've determined that the Upper and the TB should be fairly straightforward installations, but the Lower is what's concerning me. I'll be doing it with someone who knows their way around a lot more than me, but what I would like to know is what will actually be involved in the swap? Will I need any special tools, gaskets, etc? I'm aiming at Dr. Speed for the purchase.

I have the upper, lower and TB.

I had mine done by my mech. I didn't want to take the risk of screwing anything up.

The biggest bits of advice I can give you are:

- Don't rush. There are a lot of detailed parts you'll be removing so when in doubt, label everything.
- Make sure to get all the torque specs for all the bolts, and be sure to tighten the lower manifold bolts in the specific order as shown in the GM Service Manual.
- Don't mix up the pushrods! You have to remove them when replacing the lower intake manifold gasket. The intake and exhaust pushrods are different lengths, and must go back in to the same place they were removed from.

Anyplace in particular to get the kit? Also, would this fix the possibility of that damned gasket leak? Annnnddd.. what's RTV?

Those service manuals available readily from dealerships? Or would Haynes possibly have the specs as well?

RTV is silicone- black, red, blue or copper!

RTV is a silicone that does not need air to harden i believe or maybe its the other way around, and it does use air to harden, either way. You get the point.

Haynes gives most of the specs. I got my dealer to let me borrow a service manual for an afternoon one time, but they don't readily hand them out.
