to remove the alternator, disconnect the negative on the battery

-loosen the belt by turning the tensioner counter clockwise to remove
-remove the output wire and electrical connector on the alternator
-remove the mounting bolts

is that all there is too it?

When retightening the belt are their any exact specs or just tight enough to the point that it's fit on well? Also when replacing the belt, I read that removing the lower end of the belt included supporting the engine/removing the right engine mount and lowering the engine to remove it. Is that right?

new to this one, gonna be doing the alternator tomorrow if time allows it, just want to make sure I've got my facts straight

about the belt it`s on a self tensioner find the idle pully should be like a 3/8 drive ratchet will fit in it pull back on the tensioner remove the belt put new belt on
you should see how the belt routes by looking on the strut tower it should be a sticker on it and says catalyist

actually, you can rent the actual tool from autozone. its like 20 bucks but ya get it all back. i dunno, i always just get it for free period from my good ol buds at autozone. you might have to jack the motor down a bit to get the belt out, its a pretty tight fit, it'll piss ya off a good bit before you get the old one off/new one on. its all good poop lemme tell ya

oh yeah sorry it's all good

managed it back on with no problem, belt slipped back into place and things are running just fine again

a little no tool grunt work and it's still good

edit: I forgot where I posted this one heh, No breaker bar (NOBODY had one, NAPA was closed and autozone had nothing as well as a couple other stores) required the use of the wooden end of a sledge hammer to give the alt some lift enough to bolt it back on

The belt was slightly out of alignment but a short crank of the motor and it slipped right back into place, no problems.
