Radio Bypass
Anyone know how to plug earphone wire ( the end with the plug) on the Audio output of a stock 03 alero radio?
I want to bypass my audio output so the i can bring the earphone plug into my glove compartement and plug it into my Audio output on my Laptop.
That way i can play my MP3s out of the car speakers.
Thanx

Like Chris said its out there. Some are costly but its not job either. Unfortunately, I am unaware of what radio you could swap with that fits the Alero and still has its own AUX jack. I know most GM radios have them now

sirius radio has a module that connects in with your factory antenna line, and then connects to the radio. It has a AUX line in on it, so you can bypass using an fm modulator.
radioshack sells them... other places must.

with the radioshack one...
you put your antenna lead into the box. The wire coming out, goes to your radio, antenna input. Then it has an AUX 1/8" stereo jack on it. Go out from your headphone jack (on laptop, i guess) to input on that jack, and it will override your radio signal, whenever signal is present.
So plug in your laptop.. it works. Unplug your laptop, radio comes back.
works great. my bro uses it for his sirius

Wow thanx!
But i'm lookin into something different now, if it works, i ll change radios to have one with bluetooth and link my eeepc with a USB bluetooth dongle on it to the radio.
If that works, i might wait to save my money and do that. If not, then DEFINITELY going to radio shack
