I believe the oil monitoring system is by engine revolutions. The harder you drive the sooner the light will come on.

I run full synthetic 0w-40 between 10,000-12,000 miles on a change with one or two filter changes inbetween, never had an issue.. Always take samples and send them in for testing and always have come up clean. What's the point in spending the extra money on a full synthetic and changing it every 3k??

I spoke to my mech today about this and he said that syn oil only needs to be changed every 5000 miles, but changing every 3000 is just as good, since the oil takes longer to get dirty and so on.

I probably could go every 5, but I'm keeping it at 3
