Tranny Cooler & solid tranny mount installed!

I guess i'll do a step-by-step. (I dunno if we have one already or not)

1.) Choose location of where you want the cooler mounted. ( Most people do it in front of the condenser/radiator)
2.) Mount cooler
3.) Adapt fittings onto cooler
4.) Attach hose onto fittings
5.) Cut the bottom return line from the stock tranny cooler lines.
6.) Use 3/8 barbs to attach the hose ends and clamp down.
7.) Refill tranny fluid as you now need to make up room for the cooler add-on.
8.) Start up car and check for leaks at all the fitting ends.
9.) Enjoy a cooler tranny temperature and making it longer lasting.

----------------------------

Stock mount

Milzy Motorsports solid billet tranny/motor mount!

Installed!

Note: This motor mount is not for the average person. The mount is so stiff, the inside of the car and/or whole car vibrates harshly at idle!

Here are just the newest additions to the turbo project. Which will be done in 2 1/2 weeks.

looks good. How beneficial is this mod on a scale of 1 to 10? I am not completely familiar with tranny coolers..

Also curious to know the approximate cost of this project..?
..sorry if I missed any of this in the description

Cost wise: 50 bucks (more or less depending on the different sizes of coolers). + 15 for fittings and hoses (depending on the kit, some don't come w/ hoses and some do). total for me was $65 bucks on my cooler plus hoses and fittings.

Beneficial = the less heat into the tranny the better and longer lasting it will be.

hmm... it seems like your just buying extra stuff at this point... just add it to your poster of mods.

can't wait to see the turbo setup!

and whats the purpose of the solid motor mount? i'd think transferring the vibration to the body of the car would not only be annoying as hell, but also not as good for it...

Sweeeeeeeeeet.

Solid engine mount prevents engine movement. So more HP gets to the ground at first and throughout the range. Normally the engine twists, and that power is lost.

I've been told by serveral different people that unless the cooler has a thermostat, you shouldn't use it becuase the tranny could get too cool

Still it's a clean install

Nice set-up, AftermathAlero.

I have (and have had) several cars with both transmission coolers and/or engine oil coolers. They are a great help in the life of an engine or transmission.

i have a cooler twice that size, and i bypassed the factory cooler, i also run my tranny shift pressures at very high rates and have been doing this for 2 yrs with no problems, runs at about 180* on a very hot day 90+* with 90+ humigity. it tends to run cooler during the winter and when it rains decently, but it still runs great.

you would benefit highly with an oil cooler on the other side helps keep engine temps down, and oil stays cleaner between oil changes.

Yep ... why I mentioned above of using them also.

I have both coolers on my '63 Nova SS. The engine is a slightly built Chevy 292 L6 truck block bored 60 over for 302 ci and it runs a little on the hot side without the oil cooler. The tramsmission is a slightly modified Powerglide so it also needs a cooler.

hmm I wonder if that mount would still work with a 5 speed swap?
