Alright, this has nothing to do with my alero, but I got a 93 sunbird 2.0 litre to get me too and from work.

My problem is that the car idles like poop, and when I toss it into gear it starts bogging out but eventually catches up with its self. Soon as I give it some gas it stalls. I also have some serious fuel smell coming out of my exaust added with some whitish smoke, I thought at first it was steam, but its not, cuz it'll stay in the air a while.

I'm figuring that the car is getting too much fuel and is somehow flooding itself out. But I'm not sure where to start and look for the cause. Its multi-port FI. Some one mensioned the fuel pressure regulator. If I rev it up while in park its fine, alittle rough felling but it works, if I put it in gear it wants to die right away, but when I try to move the gar and give a little gas it bogs and dies.

Hope someone can help me on this problem.

There doesn't seem to be a MAF sensor there.... from what i've read up on, it should be on the duct between the air filter compartment and the intake duct. But I'm not seeing anything on that duct. Would a MAP sensor be the same thing?

Tranny fluid looks and smells good, I thought of the torque converter/soleniod already. But I've leaned away from that since I can get the car moving some times. It just depends on wether the car is idling better or not. I've tryed in reverse and drive. I do beleive its more of a fuel/emissions system problem... possible the timing or distributor prob. I'm going to test compression this weekend to see if the rings are in good shape.
Any more ideas?

Check your O2 sensor. That's what my prob was on my old Jeep. Same symptoms too.

i know it don't sound right, but hey, it's a cheap part even if it's not the prob.

Good Luck!

ya, it is cheap, i'll run over to crappy tire and pick one up.... what would clog a cat converter? It's fairly new.

You said that there is white smoke comming from you're exhast correct?

I hate to tell you but.................................White smoke when first started is normal. If white smoke continues you have an internal coolant leak, i.e., cracked head/blown head gasket. Black smoke is caused by a rich fuel condition. Blue smoke is caused by oil consumption.

That was taken form http://www.2carpros.com/topics/whitesmk.htm. check it out

He's right dude on the smoke colors. Look in your radiator and see if there is an oil slick in it. If there is, its yo headgasket.
