Ok, I've decided that want to make my car not only look sharp, but be quick. I was wondering what are the first things I need to do? I know that a CAI is on the top, which is what I'm planning on right now. I'm probably going to go witht the Iduction Dynamics one, but I was just curious as to what everyone else would do.

the induction dynamics CAI is good to start with. other mods you could do are exhaust header, 2 1/2" cat-back exhaust, maybe with a high flow cat, underdrive crank pulley and alternator pulley, and you could even throw on the RSM 62mm throttle body with their ported intake manifold. you could even put in an adjustable fuel pressure regulator to improve fuel flow at top end. all those will give you a good, noticeable difference over stock and you'd end up with a decently quick car  or you could go the forced induction route like me B)

you want to make a 2.4 quick?
Try these fun things, all things are pretty much bolt on type modifications, however the electronic toys need to be wired up, no plug n play there.
induction dynamics intake
rsm throttle body
2.3ho manifold conversion *do it right and it won't let you down*
2.3 cams
pacesetter header
2.25 in/out cat
2.5in exhaust
2.3HO crank pulley
adjustable regulator (get it tuned for optimal psi on dyno)
Apexi S-AFC (again get tuned on dyno for optimal gains)
75shot of nitrous
GM supercharger kit
2.3 cams
pacesetter header
2.5cat
2.5exhaust
battery to trunk
intake straight to fenderwell
rsm throttle body
smaller charger pulley
S-AFC (dyno tune it)
you should have fun with those toys...
if you want to go farther and NOT want the supercharger.
Do an 086 head swap w/ the **secret cams**
than you'll have to find yourself a 2.3exhaust manifold flange for the header
and the 2.3Ho intake manifold will bolt on without mods...
Damn why don't I do this?

^yeah 2.3 HO parts will pump up the power alot, otherwise pretty much everything everyone has said is a good start. you may also wanna look at the Venom intake manifold and other stuff from them for the 2.4 cavalier.

one thing, if you are not going turbo or s/c or even N2O do not go with the 62mm throttle body. you lose too much bottom end. get a 2.3 HO throttle body instead.

sometimes you can find one on ebay. or thru someone off j-body.org or you can go to a junkyard and find one off 2.3 HO.
