New Exhaust for 2.4L?

Hey I have a 2000 Alero 2.4L, I was wondering what is the best muffler I should get. I want something loud enough so you know its a performance exhaust, but not to loud and get pulled over every other day. Recommended Brands and dimensions would be great!

How about a pacesetter exhasut system? It is dual tipped but it sounds a bit goofy on youtube.

I have been looking for a new exhaust lately. I got like five different qoutes and 3 different opinions (the Cat converter has to be replaced).

1. Told me to use a cat back system
2. Somebody told me to cut out the cat converter
3. My regular mech. told me a performance muffler wouldn't make much of a difference (except make a more throaty sound).

Any thoughts?

1. "cat-back" is just a description of the kit. it's everything from the cat to the back.
2. If you have OBD-II inspections in FL, don't cut the cat. it's only impeding your performance because it's gone bad. if you don't have OBD-II inspections, then it's your call.
3. if you have any engine work at all, a performance muffler can only help if you have the proper exhaust work done. ie: 4" exhaust on any N/A Alero (with factory equipped engine) is retarded. 4" exhaust would be better suited for a heavily boosted applications.
