gauge lights.....??

so i've had this issue for some time now, 1day all the backlighting in the dashboard meaning the lights for my gauges and my a/c components have turned off, i've taken it to a couple of shops to check it out but all they say is it might be a relay... has this happened to any1 else? i've learned my speed limit by sound since i cant see the guages at nite..lol
