Electronic Squeal

00' Alero GL 2.4 157k. (No aftermarket mods)

In the past week or so, I have been hearing this high-pitched electronic squeal, and it's getting worse. (It's very annoying!)
-It seems to be coming from below the driver's side instrument panel.
-It occurs at idle, or when you are driving and you take your foot off the accelerator.
-It grows slightly in intensity the longer your foot is off the pedal.
-It's not coming from, and doesn't seem to be related to, the audio system (which is stock)
-It continues for a couple of seconds after you shut the car down. (maybe some sort of capacitator)

I have no idea what it is, and it is becoming really annoying!

Anybody have any ideas?

Possibly a relay of some sort. There are a few underneath the dash. Feel to see if they are cycling then you found your problem. How to solve it is a different issue.

Well I took the console out, and figured out that it's coming from some kind of vacuum related thing that is related to the temperature module. When I pull the 2-pronged plug out that is in the middle, and hold my finger on the end, the sound starts. So far, after adjustment, it has stopped.

????????
