Ringing Noise

So unless the A/C arctic looking button is on there is a rattling or mildly high pitched ringing noise. Any ideas as to what it could be? Not a big deal I just wanna try and fix it.

Couldn't it just be the clutch? Cause when you turn on the A/C, the clutch engages, and that is when he says he has no noise.

He is saying unless his A/C is on it makes the noise. That the way I read it anyway.

The clutch ingages on the compresser when you turn the A/C on. They go out quite often.

it could still maybe be the a\c compressor clutch not disingaging, if thats even a possible problem.

I'm not sure on that. I'm sure it is possible though.

from what you guys are saying it sounds like maybe the clutch is not completely disengaging from the compressor equaling a weak connection between the two and the ringing???

is it a light metallic ringing? if so that is probably the problem. i have never heard of it happening, but if it did thats what it would sound like.

Does it do it at idle? If so just pop the hood and go take a look at the compresser. The clutch will stop and start when the A/C is on. It shouldn't spin at all if the A/C is off. So if its spinning when the A/C is off thats your problem.

Mine does the same thing, but not all the time. When A/C is on, clutch is engaged, so theres no noise, its when A/C is off that the noise can be heard. Because the compressor is free spinning and the clutch are worn out and make some metal on metal sound.

I've been told you can have the compressor rebuilded, but it has a price. Else I would look for one in a junk yard or over here.
