Hi guys... i have been looking for a rear quarter panel and heard they'll be hard to come by and expensive... so i found a guy parting out a car on ebay and he said make him an offer... what would be a suitable offer... like how much can he get for these things?

Quarter panels are not that hard to come by. If you goto www.car-part.com and do a search for what your looking for, chances are there is a junkyard nearby that has one. And price ranges... for a good quarter with no damage you should expect to pay somewhere between $200 and $300. Quarter panels are not the easiest thing to replace, so I hope you know what your doing. Have you figured out if the Quarter can be repaired?

well anything made out of bent metal CAN be repaired.... looking at how it was dented however makes me think it might be easier to cut the dented area out and weld a new piece in place... and then finish it. it dented in about 3 or 4 inches just a little bit above the level of the lugz on the wheel... so its dented in the part right by the rear door and then the dented area goes up till about 3 inches above the wheel well... however, the trashed area only goes back towards the taillight about a foot.... so all i was thinking of replacing was that skinny section around the wheel well. i might just hit it with a hammer a few times and bend it back to golden... then finish it with filler... depending on how cheap i can get the piece i need. 200 to 300 is what i was afraid of... but i'll throw an obcenely low offer at him and if he takes it... that's kosher.

i think you're better off hammering/pullin ur qtr pnl out and bondo'n it. welding on this metal aint easy, it's damn thin. and i'm fairly positive you're gonna end up with more work tryin to weld that poop.

when i got my car fixed after my wreck, we mainly used body parts from junkyarded GA's, but our body shop guys (the best ever btw) said that with quarter panels on most cars you should NOT go used. get a new one from the factory. you have to suck it up and pay a bit more, but you dont run the risks of it having imperfections a used one would have which could make it not work right.
i dunno , whatever.. they told my mom in detail why, and she told me a little about it, so im not entirely sure WHY, but if Ed says put a new QP on your car, then you should do it. sooo we did.
