body kit bolt up

my body kit will be here tuesday and i want to put it on untill i can afford to have it painted in the spring..but i see there are problems with fitment? can i simply bolt my kit on (kombat) like the stock bumpers and rockers? i guess my quistion is i dont understand what anyone means by fitemnt

Fitment issues are when the kit doesn't bolt up in the exact same pattern as the stock bumper. With the AAS upper part being chopped off an Al, it should bolt right up (in theory) but there have been cases when it hasn't. If problems arise, bite the bullet and have it shop-installed

More importantly, IMO, I wouldn't put on the kit unless you plan on getting it painted in a week, two tops. At least it would give people the idea that you're going right back a LITTLE bit later to get it finished. Any longer than that and you become the Douche who rides around with a gay un-painted bodykit

lol i see them all the time, im supposed to be getting a good deal on the paint "i work at a dealership and im good with the body shop manager" but who knows how much that is gonna be. i can do about 200 but im thinking its gonna be about 400....how long should i expect it to take if i install myself? and what tools will i need?

my aas kit fit fine bolted right up just like the stockers

tools you'll need for bumpers:
flathead screwdriver (for the little plastic clips)
socket wrench

not sure about the rockers. I never had to deal with them.

and fitment means exactly what you think it means. good fitment means the kit fits the way it's supposed to. if you have bad fitment, you will need an experienced person to alter it to fit well. Preferably a professional.

i think ill try it, if i start having problems itll go back together, im usualy pretty good at figureing stuff out thanks for all the help guys! ill post pics soon as i can

it's not hard at all. mounting the front is a matter of drilling two holes on top for christmas tree clips, drilling two holes on each side at the fenders for bolts. Then the back is drilling a couple holes around the inner tire well, and also more christmas tree clips along ledge of the trunk. be sure to paint your back bumper bar black as it will be seen. also, make sure you use the styrofoam under the bumper cover on the front. don't use it in the back tho. the sideskirts need screwed into each end, and you'll have to remove a little bit of material on the inside of the fiberglass skirt. screws go in the ends, and apply some panel bond underneath when the go on for good.(urethane adhesive works pretty good for this)

ok dude he is having trouble already and i don`t think needs your i guess you can say unprofessional advice on a install, like your talking about panle bond??? you forgot to mention that he will need to buy the material and the gun to apply the panel bond?? you also forgot to mention that panle bond need clean metal to proplery bond to a surface for a inseperable bond did you also mention that panel bond is corrosive resistant??
if he would use a urathene are you refering to window urathene?? i don`t suggest using that product for install, or even if he used a plastic repair product for install would not work properly as well
the energy absorber or the styrofoam as you call it can be shaped to fit ya know the energy absorber actually has a purpose
the re-bar or as you call it the back bumper bar is black so why would he paint it again??
what iam trying to do i clear up in correct terms and try to l********* you in the right direction
and the correct term is ROCKER PANLE MOLDINGS

Mine is sitting under my house all wrapped up in plastic wrap and boxed up. Im not gonna put mine on til this summer because i dont have the money to paint it or get rims. But this summer she is going to be beautiful

.I'll be making close to 800 a week, so it'll be no problem.

But I am doing the install all by myself . The main thing is make sure you have a partner helping you. That always makes it 100 times easier. And take it slow

It's Side skirts well if you go by what the people that actually produce them call them, and the back bumper is not black...its a greyish color. Dont get so "professional" he's not going to understand body work jargon if he doesnt even know what fitment means. IM not tryin to argue with you because you have many years of experience over me....but chill a little. Just laugh if he messes up, and then tell him all this stuff.

ROCKER PANLE MOLDINGS one more time is the correct term, and every n-body i have fixed the RE-BAR was black, and yes i will correct people when the incorrect name for a part is given

I think GM created them, AAS just made some aftermarket ones. and in the GM service manual they are defined as rocker panel moulding.

Calling them side skirts is like calling your wheels "rims".
