well, my car has around 30,000 miles on it, and i've been running regular oil, making regular oil changes, and im soon to go to full synthetic, most likely mobil 1 b/c i can get a case of it at Sams club for 25 bucks....now my question is what brand and weight of oil are you running in the ecotec? i've done some searches but nothing was too helpful

I'm currently running amsoil synthetic. My first change to synthetic was at about 3500 miles. I was told (and read in owners manual) that 10w30 is acceptable if not below freezing. I did notice a difference when I changed from 5w30 valvoline to 10w30 amsoil. It was a bit more sluggish, not as good on mileage. I gave synthetic a second chance, and went with the amsoil 0w30.

The stuffs awesome. I still replace my oil every three thousand, but they say you can go up to 12000, you just have to change the oil filter,
I didn't like the looks of my oil at 3000, so i changed it anyways, and continue to do so. 5w30 is acceptable too. You can read up on 0w30 by amsoil at Amsoil Website

I haven't tried another synthetic. originally I tried it because it's all my shop uses, I then found out you can get an account at amsoil and get a great discount. Thats when I switched to 0w30

i've thought about amsoil, i know it's highly recommended and that they even say you can go 12,000 miles on it, and chemically you could b/c it wont break down, but it will still get dirty i figure..........over on j-body.org it seems that everyone ether runs amsoil or mobil 1 .....i think im going to go mobil 1 since the price is right

Just remember, say the oil is rated at 6000 for example.

It'll last longer, but it can still get dirty. WOuldn't hurt changing the fuel filter at half the interval..

It's easy with the eco, recommend getting the shallow socket for it. Lisle make a good one for 8 bucks, sold at murrays. The first time I did it with a regular socket is was awkward. Used a pivot adapter:P DOn't need that with the shallow socket.
