From time to time but that is the beauty of the City button. Other option is retune the receiver which will work but you have to be very careful with that cause you could make a 100 radar detector useless.
I'll add this too, cause not many police are running on the X-band anymore either so its pretty easy to tell the difference. Hell a Garage door opener will set it off but again thats what the city button is suppose to filter out.

I know this thread is old but I had to add this: I just picked up a Cobra XRS9985 for 99 bucks on sale at radioshack for christmas...can't wait to put this baby to work, and see what a high priced radar detector can do.

I have a Corba, it was $119 and in a red package (can't remember the number) the blue one doesn't talk like mine does.
I don't use it that much thought, only state troopers are allowed to use radar in PA

No I tested it today and it is what I expected...I got one of the officers from work to help me, and I picked him up 1.5miles down the road and that was in a residential area, lots of road signs and light poles. It works! I programmed it to not scan x and k bands, and turned pop mode off as well. I really like it. I was going to get the beltronics vector 955 but would have spent the majority of my christmas money on it and I really wanted the Home theater system. Believe me I'm as cheap as they come and do research on everything I buy, and for 99 bucks can't beat it.

No they aren't illegal here in PA, but local cops cannot use radar to clock you, only state troopers can do that.
Bensalem cops were using radar to nail people on US Route 1 a while ago. The township made over $10,000 in fines, then had to pay everybody back and got fined themselves

LOL...Thats awesome! And crazy cause I've installed some radars for the local sheriffs department here and I've been pulled over a few times with my own shit...LMAO, but I only get warnings! I wonder why they do that?

they can use them, but it's illegal for them to use the radar for the basis of their prosecution. variation of the 4th Amendment kind of thing.

They keep a record of them so that if you are stopped for the same offense they will write you a ticket the next time thats all. I've had multiple warnings about the front license plate before but from different police agencies. When they run your plates it will show that there is a written warning for the infraction already then its up to the officer on how to proceed, he can either write you a ticket then and there or give you another warning if you have a good reason.

I was watching a show called Test Drive I think, not sure exactly of the name but the guy was showing off a Laser Jammer, which looked kind of interesting.

They don't work and its illegal to use those. They (cops) may not know that cause it is under the FCC but they are illegal. There is a company that makes this stuff called Veil and it is suppose to be the best stuff in the market. It puts a thin tint coat on all the lights in the front and rear, and also the license plate, and is suppose to absorb laser. Its to expensive for my blood.
