What is this part?

I was under the car yesterday replacing my starter and I saw in the bottom corner under the battery... or maybe it was the other side. Either way, its visible under the car in the corner, it was this oil filter shaped thing and it said ASM motor on it.

Anybody know what that is?

I'm guessing it was for the ABS.

My guess is it was part of the AIR pump system, on the passenger side. But it's been a while since I've been under an Alero.

Pics? Even Google didn't know, other than ASM might be a type of motor as opposed to anything describing it's function in a car.

On the pass side? Only thing I can think of is AC lines and the horn.

The AIR system is all up under the hood, None of it is under the car

Ah ok. It's been a while since I got rid of the Alero. Mine didn't have the AIR system anyway, but the wrecked GAGT I bought a few years back did. I seem to recall the only thing on the drivers side under the battery was the washer fluid tank and the EBCM, neither of which resemble an oil filter. On the passenger side, I seem to recall there being at least one or two things that could fit that description, I guess one was part of the A/C system. Wasn't there also a black canister of some sort over there or am I mistaken?
