hey guys, im new to the site but i wanted to get the opinion of some guys that know more about the alero than I do. Today i got a challenge from a guy at school that drives a 240SX. Im not perfectly sure of the year. Im guessing it is a mid to late 90's model. The owner told me it is a 2.4L non turbo with a automatic transmision. He, along with some other guys from school, believe it will beat my 2001 Alero with a 3.4L, also automatic. Both cars are completely stock. Can anybody give me thier thoughts on this? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

You better quickly say that your going to do it at the track or else your going to have a bunch of people in here soon giving you a lecture on street racing.

As for thoughts on the race.....i have no idea. Around curves i would say he would beat you...but in a straight line...i am no help.

to answer your question sweetnlow...i care who wins. Its not so much deciding what car is better, but mainly a thing of respect, to me at least. I normally keep to myself at school and this guy and his friends randomly start talkin trash. I dont see any reason for them tryin to pick a race with me but i usually dont back down from a challenge. Not only this but he has mentioned a small wager on this race. I understand both cars are slow, and i wish i could have afforded a faster car, but i cant complain being 19 years old with a relatively nice ride. I bought it with a kato combat body kit and aftermarket wheels. Like most people in this forum, i want to modify my car but at the moment i am broke. Thanks for the input pimpalero.

AlbinoMonkeyRat is on a distinguished road
depending on the year, the 2.4L engines found in the 240SX can range from 140-155hp, and the car weighs around 2700 pounds.

240SX ratios:
140hp @ 2700lbs = 19.3
155hp @ 2700lbs = 17.4

Alero 3400 ratio:
170hp @ 3000lbs = 17.64

if he has anything less than 150hp, you'll beat him. Get us a year and a model and we can be certain.

A body kit and wheels will actually add drag, and make you a tad heavier and slower. Am I right guys'?

I'd say when u go to the track to empty as much weight from your car as possible. Also put alittle better octane gas in your car, and only have 1/4 a tank in there. Umm if ur running stock, disconnect your intake from the air box. and let it lay in your engine bay. You might get better times like that. I know someone that did that, and ran better times.

I agree orion..the body kit does at a little weight to it. Luckily its only fiberglass and plastic. Honestly, it has a kato combat front bumper (fiberglass) and the rest is a razzi kit. For some reason the previous owner put 15s on it. Not terrible looking, but i would like bigger wheels. Another thing i forgot to mention is that it did dyno at 148 hp. I was not told the TQ rating. I just talked to one of the guys from school and he is saying this 240sx is a 96 if that is any help to you albinomonkeyrat. Let me know if u need any more info.
