from the rust it looks like it was at one point, but hasnt been in a while...where exactly is this at?

^it's the center suspension subframe near where the rear lateral links connect... obviously... lol

That is looking from back to front pass. side, appears to be gas tank bracket?

This was in my garage, I did a walk around snaping random pics of my underbody without looking and came across this when i inspected pics.

Sooo How do i go about re-bolting that?

Yep where the arms connect to the car. If rusted out dunno depending what is above it simple fix would be remove stuff from the trunk drill a hole up from the bottom after make sure won't hit anything! Get a nice grade8 bolt and some small thick steel square and run bolt from inside and put nut on from underneath make sure to use loctight. Should work at least in my mind lol

Could this be a sign of a previous accident? and wouldn't it be better to move it to the original spot, put new plate down and bolt it to that? rather than having is bolted being crooked?

That's how it's supposed to be, there's no threads in that oval hole. Everything would be off center and the struts wouldn't line up.

ya i found out the rear end of my alero was previously replaced, looked under and only one gas tank strap was on. i'm glad i checked it out haha
