Trubo Kit...

Hey I was looking at this turbo kit on ebay... Here ... Can anyone see if I would need to get anything else with this to put it on?? I think that it has all I need. I was looking at the build book and most of the stock parts are good to 300hp. I'm think I would have to get a boost controller but other then that....

Thanks in advance.

That's not the right kit at all. That is for the regular 2.2, not the Ecotec (which is 02-05)

Garrett also makes some parts to turbocharge the ecotec, although for the cobalt. http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbob...oletCobalt.htm

Yeah, you'd have to get a completely different turbo kit. That one is for the 2.2L pushrod engine that came in the J cars, not the Ecotec. Besides, nothing is application specific besides the turbo manifold. You'd still have to get those charge pipes fabbed to fit your car, plus there's no fuel mods. You need some way to add fuel with boost. That bunch of parts isn't even close to a complete kit.

A little tip, if you're looking for a decent, all inclusive turbo kit for an Ecotec, stay away from eBay.

Hahn Racecraft has a bolt on kit for 5 speed Ecotec J cars, but to use it on an automatic you'd just have to get new charge pipes fabbed up.

Good to know. I have the 5 speed so thats not a problem. Just that the Hahn setup is about double the price. But with the Canadian dollar the way it is....

It's double the price because it's a complete kit that includes everything you need to bolt it on and drive. Even though you have a 5 speed, the charge pipes may still not work in an Alero, since they were made to fit on Cavaliers and Sunfires. But still, if you need to, just fab new charge pipes and you have a complete kit.

I would really really avoid those e bay kits. While I do not believe it is bad to buy an e bay intercooler or a some charge pipes etc. Most of those people just buy cheap parts, throw them all in a box and call it a 'kit'. You may have seen 'Maximum Boost' kits on there, and those are notorious for that.
