Missing after installing new coil packs

I'm not too worried right now, I think it's a "learning curve" thing.

I replaced the coil packs this morning (olds ones were rusted out on 4 of the 6 termails) and it was really easy. I didn't replace the little gaskets thou. The one's in there were fine.

Car starts up a lot better, and was idleing a bit high (1000 v 785) but that has since settled down to about 800 now.

I go on it and as soon as it hit 5 grand, it missed. The tach jumped to 6200, then 6600 I did it again, and it missed at 4500 and jumped to 5500. When I first drove it after replacing the packs, it missed at 1200 and shot to 2250.

After the miss, I got home (30 seconds after the miss) and damn did I smell a lot of fuel. Not raw fuel, but defently running very rich.

When I replaced my MAF, it had a pretty big learning curve which included a transmission shift from park to reverse which could have broken a mount on a CAT backhoe engine, no lie

Well I'm off the the car graveyard now to see if I can find parts from my 330 Olds motor.

did you replace wire? if the posts were rusted they were probably rusting with the wire. And you broke that connection. Idk it's just a guess, probably not the problem. But just start small and work your way deep? You could also have the ignition module checked

Well the problem has just gotten 50 times worse.

Normal driving now is plaged with missfires. I pulled over in a parking lot and wiped off all the electrical grease I put on thinking that may be the problem. It didn't miss too much after about 5 miles, but it did try to stall 2 times while sitting at a light

eff it. I'm putting the old coils back on.

you still havent replaced your ignition module have you.....

if its not the plugs not the wires, not the packs.....you look at the ignition module....

Moderator edit: Okay, things may have gotten out of hand in that other thread, but don't make it worse by being a dink.

/\/\ it is a possability but rather then just swapping it with a new one. Take it out and run it to autozone for a free test

So granted I don't have the # of posts alot of the members on here have. But I have been undercover on aleromod since April of 07 and I'm beginning to think -alero- is a real d-bag. Why come on to a car specific forum, ask a for help, talk back to everyone trying to help then, be a royal ass to the other members facing a problem.. WTF grow up

As for the ICM, I'm not going to just go replace a $300 part on a whim. I know it's an easy swap, but for $300 I'm going to make damn sure that's the problem first.

Out of all the reseach I've done v. the symptoms with my car, it's either the ICM or injectors.

Could anyone post a pic of the exact part (ICM) you need to swap to test it? I'm drawing a blank on this. Maybe I can find one laying around.

It's in this assembly, huh? This has been laying around a few years, got it in trade from Kwhauck. I can disassemble it further, if you want, check it out a bit more......
