Thumbs up

This thing has started to turn on more frequently now. It used to be a very infrequent event that the low oil light would turn on for a few seconds, and then it would turn off again. The oil is not low, as I check every time to make sure. It's getting quite annoying. I just got the oil changed after i noticed the problem, thinking that maybe the oil was the culprit. No change. Any ideas?

there is a reset button in the fuse box on the drivers side of the car that you are supposed to push every time you change the oil. i found that info in the car manual. try to rest it and see what happens.

^ Low oil is different than change oil. The change oil light is the one you have to reset when you change it. If your oil isn't low, it's most likely the sensor for the light. Unless it's still under warranty, just make sure you check the oil occasionally, and put some black electrical tape over the light.

Yeah the light is really easy to reset, but I think there is a way to do it with the pedels. A guy at an Olds dealership in FL did it that way

Well... now that i look at it, it might not be the low oil light... there is a light that specifically says "LOW OIL" then a light that just has like a box, with a water level, with an arrow pointing down. That one is the one that is going off intermittantly.

That's a much bigger problem. Check your coolant ASAP. That's a pretty sure sign of a lower intake gasket leak. There's some diagnostics on this site somewhere, check them out and look at your car. The coolant may be low, or it may look like there's oil in it, it usually gets crusty around the cap. Look at the engine, and if you can spot the gasket (where the manifolds meet), you can see if it's leaking. If it is, you need to get it fixed, 'cause much worse things will happen.
