Against a WRX which was not in my class but I got a 4th time trial where I only should have gotten 3

Race 5

First round

2500 RPM's and tire pressure to 25 as well as the next race too

Raced a really big POS Probe. This car shouldn't have been on the street let alone the track.

I kicked his ass, in fact he got the head start but waited of me to go down the track with him. Dumbass. I hit the brakes at the end of the track so not to break out and he got really pissed and started to race me after the finish line. I hate clowns like that

The circles on the time slip is because I got my trophy

For conversation's sake, what RPM do you normally shift into 3rd? ( Have you dyno'd your ride since making your mods to see where your peak is? )

I noticed that even in time trials where you "lost" your 6o foot times are really good, even when they beat ya @ the tree.....

I'm also wondering if the Goodyear lane had the same traction issues. It's hard to tell, because a couple of the runs it seems like the driver was asleep @ the tree, and maybe jumped on the throttle too hard after seeing you launch. On the flip side of the coin, the lane mighta been better...for example, in your trial run against the integra, he cut a decent light, but his 60' time certainly don't show it ( unless his gear ratio @ launch is too high, then I can see him accelerating a tad slower ) kinda hard to tell if lane conditions were the same, there's so many variables.... did you get a run in the other lane?

I shift into 3rd at 5750 RPM's right before the tranny shifts itself.

I shifted at around 5900 once when the tranny does shift and I chirped the wheels and the car pulled to the right very violently

The 2.265 60' was my best to date. Man if only the wheels didn't spin

look at that regal's times....1st gear must be a DOG in that car LOL Seems like he accelerated at the same rate from the 330-on, but his launch and 1st gear really stink hehe

no tranny problems or are you just anticipating em?

You run the car in 2nd at the track and then shift into 3rd at 5750 rpms?

I can't imagine that bein good after you take it out for everyday driving

although the times aren't half bad though

with the P&P, CAI, cat back, high flow cat, TB, Plugs, and pulleys i'm surprised you don't hit lower

have you ran the track in and left it in D? any times?

/\/\/\/\ Ran it in D before the CAI. everything else was the same, but since you mention it I might give it a shot. That was before I knew how to lauch. I only lauched at idle (800 RPM's)

Best time before, in D with 800 RPM lauch. 15.80. Maybe just in 3rd or just in D will help me at the track

even just for a test run

I'm still weighing the decision about how much of an advantage you'll get off manually shifting the auto

not somethin i'd do myself but curious to see how it affects times

Yeah it's worth a shot.

I'm not going to the track until July, so I'll do one run in 3rd and one shifting

I tried going 1/2/3 but it put too much torque to the wheels and spun them up big time

Ken.... Ken.... Ken.... what have I told you about launching the car off the tree? Those runs should all have been in the .03's. You have to concentrate on leaving off the same spot on the 3rd bulb every time. The tighter your RT, the more you can make up for shifting/ET errors down track. I couldn't be there this weekend to watch you but hopefully you'll come down on one of my next points days so I can whip you into shape. For consistency's sake with your ET's (which is what bracket racing really is all about) you should leave it in "D" or 3rd and let the car shift on its own and keep the tire pressure at 25 psi.

/\/\/\/\ Yeah I think I'm going to leave it in 3rd

The RT were bad, I admit. I was playing around too much with the RPM for launching. At least the car ran good

good times. funny the difference in RPM for launch from a 6cyl to a 4cyl. If I don't drop it at least around 3000RPM, I bog down

I gotta stop going past red line with my shifts though

The lower the tire pressure, the larger the contact-patch the tire has with the ground. ( Ever hear people say to keep your tires aired-up properly in order to get the best gas mileage? ) That's why. Everyday driving doesn't require that much contact with the road, and can actually prematurely wear the tire.

^Keep in mind that Ken DOES increase the pressure back up once he's done racing. Lowering the pressure is a very quick way of increasing traction at the track when you are experiencing slipping off the line. You ca also help your ETs by INcreasing the tire pressure in the tires that are just rolling (in this case the rear wheels) so that there is less contact friction with those tires. That's the reason dragsters and many race cars have skinnies up front.
