Alero Fender

Hi guys I recently got into an accident and the passenger side fender is beat up pretty bad, I was wondering how simple is it to change the fender...something along the lines of a bolt on job or is welding involved?

Ya its just a bolt on deal like 3-4 under the hood then like 4-6 inside the wheel well

I found it simple but if I remember correctly there are two or three inside the car near the door hinges. On install I used a matchbook to get my gap between the door and fender before I bolted down tight.

Here, I have a PDF from GM SI on how to replace it. I just need to figure out how to post a PDF.

.pdf is not a valid extension type for the board (i don't know why)... so you'll have to upload it somewhere else and link to it.

lets see a pic of the damage, it could be just a fender, but there is always more damage when a car is torn down, when i see a pic then ill tell you how to remove the fender and how to get nice gaps

I've done it on my Escort, and it was easy enough to do. I also replaced the rusted bolts with stainless steel ones.

the issue with SS is that it is most of the time weak.

That's why I only use them for mostly trim pieces. Should be just fine for a fender. I know you can't pick up hardened stainless steel stuff at your local hardware store. It's only available via mail order or from local places only open during regular business hours ho will only sell by the box.
