I'm curious if DEI exhaust wrap will actually free up lost hp by covering most of the exhaust system. I know it will help in lowering underhood, which leads me to my next question.

I want to install a intercooler as a cold air intake. I plan on caping off one side and running the other directly to the throttle body, then covering all of this with DEI so that it remains insanely cool, dense air.

So what do you all think? Does this sound like a good idea or just a big waste of my time and money?

Long story short, it will actually slow down the intake charge as it tries to filter through the intercooler without the benefit of forced air (turbo) pushing it through. So any gains in performance would be minimal compared to a cold air intake and negated because of all the additional weight. All I'm looking for now is a good cold air system.

The only other option that would be available is to put some really powerful fans in front of the intercooler forcing air into it.

both are dumb ideas. neither will do crap for your car. the intercooler will hurt performance and the exhaust wrap is not worth it for your setup.

You gotta see the whole picture Oldsman, the exhaust wrap on the exhaust is to get the most out of a later modification. I will install it once I get my exhaust system. There's no since in pulling the exhaust system after it is installed and then wrapping it. That's nothing but a waste of time.

the only setup that would benefit from wrap is a turbo setup. even if you put a header on a 2.4 the only thing you might do is reduce under the hood temps. performance wise an UR pulley is more benefiticial

thanks for the info, I plan on a turbo, it is just very far down the line, that's why I plan on wrapping it now to save the time and the hastle later
