well i think i might pick up a bottle tonight and use it..... my friend can get me a prof tranny fluid change done for like only 30, and i dont want to pay that much for a dealership..... plus i was to put in the royal purple fluid in.....

i'm running all royal purple ATF right now in my new tranny. that thing shifts really quick with the b&m. harder than before.

my 2.4 use to get stock 28-29 mpg on the highway. but after the exhaust, intake, and MSD i get 32 on the highway. it didn't even go down with the cams and head.

The only sure fire way to save gas mileage is to keep your engine in tip top shape and drive like a grandma and dont drive anywhere "extra". Modding a car for better gas mileage is counter productive.

yes and no...it can help fuel mileage, but only if you don't stomp on it every corner..which is what most ppl do once you start modding.

oldsman knows as does the majority of the midwest group knows the gas mileage of my alero. the gas saving mods would be CAI and a cat back exhaust. with those i got 40ish mpg 2 yrs ago on the way to ASS, last year on the way back with some more performance mods i got 36 mpg. or maybe my car is just a freak. either way there are some gas saving mods.

I was thinking about this....

maybe the place where you live would determine the miles you get.....

In pa there are mountains, and it takes more gas to get up them, but in the midwest it is flat, which means you don't have to be crawling up hills.....

i dunno if this would matter but i think it might.....

and it depends on the serverity of the traffic and when you drive.. my trip to cleveland i got about 38mpg there and back on one tank of gas..but regular city driving this last few weeks i'm back down to 24-25 mpg. i know i need a tune up and new breaks and shocks that my help just a little bit. but its still in how you drive too.

my alero was getting around 28 in the city and 37 on the highway. mine was a 5 spd.

Probably the best thing to improve gas mileage would probably do modifications that would allow the car to "inhale and exhale" more efficiently.

Definitely finding the spark plug that will allow the best and fullest amount of spark would be a start. Making sure your electrical system is in top shape, maybe even beefing up the grounds, would help prevent excess strain on the alternator.

Lighter wheels and tires than stock. Overall ligthening of the car will increase your gas mileage.

the programming hptuners has, would allow you to fiddle with air/fuel ratios, timing, and transmission settings so you'd be able to optimize everything for the least amount of fuel consumption.

keep all your filters clean and lubes brand new...

hehe... there's lots you can do to improve gas mileage....

I have a 2.4 with an auto and I almost never get over 21 mpg even on the highway. It really gets bad in the winter (9-12 mpg around town.)
