Exclamation Oil change need help

i got an 01 alero with 84.800 miles and dont know wat oil i should get i just bought the car and wanted to know wat oil u guys would recommend ? please write back i really appreciate the help

With that many miles you would want to stick with a conventional oil. I wouldn't go syntheic at this point.

"Shell" is a pretty good brand to use, but do not use Penzoil. I haven't heard too many good things about them.

I know the 3400 uses 5w-30, but I don't know about the 4 banger. I think it's the same, but check your manual just to be sure. I don't know what size oil filter goes to your motor

isnt the 2.4 one of the GM 4 bangers that has the paper filter sitting in front of the tranny? If i remember right it has the 32mm plastic cap u take off and pull the filter out. It looks like a freakin fuel filter without a housing around it. I could be wrong. If it is the canister type filter then i think the fram oil filter number is 3387A or 3675, but its been a while since i messed with one.

When I got my Alero last year I started with semi-synth 5w30 for about 6 months then I did an oil flush of the engine to remove the gunk, and switched to full synth. It's really your choice.
