Fuel Economy

so it seems as soon as the gas prices drop, so does my MPG. this is what ive done so far. tell me where im messing up

NGK Iridium Plugs
Cold Air Intake (currently WAI)

The WAI filter is currently directly after the MAF. I'm not sure if thats what my problem is. ive posted on here many times on how when it rains hard my CAI stops sucking air properly when wet. so i left it WAI for now. its pain in the ass to go outside in the rain and your car wont start.

Is that the problem with my fuel economy?

what is your current mpg, and your average speed?

tend to slam on the pedal, or take it easy when accelerating?

and i had a question for other members.... Cold air decreases your mpg... but wouldn't have a WAI somewhat negate that, since the air under your hood is gonna be warmer? (not a complete negation, but significant)

Yeah. Your engine will get worse mpg in winter because of the cold, even if you have the WAI which is at least helping a little.

filters all clear? O2 sensors working up to par? maybe the plugs aren't working 100% (i don't remember if NGK were one of the ones that can give problems) stop lead footing it. under accel (unless passing) don't try to get it over 3k RPMs for one full tank... see how much that helps.

alot of it has to do with driving... last friday, I filled up and calculated my mileage. i had gotten 14 mpg. which i was expecting because i drive like a maniac on my way to school. whereas, today i filled up after driving to my cottage over the weekend with the cruise on 65 mph and I got 25 mpg. so more than doubled my fuel economy by driving nice.

if you want good gas mileage, go get a 4 cylinder. Your not going to get the best MPG with the 3400. I do get 33 mpg on the highway though.

Im gonna start counting how many threads we have about gas mileage.

Well he's getting 20mpg, and for wintertime that's about average, and when you consider he has a lead foot, it doesn't sound bad at all.
