Does anyone know how much a Tubbed and Stripped Alero would weigh? Mine weighed in at the track at 2987 lbs. I had no spare, no head lights, no back seats and no hood.

Depends on how aggressive you get. The Alero has quite a bit of cross-bracing and high-strength steel to make for a stiff car, but realistically, you can probably knock a good 400-500 pounds off a stock vehicles curb weight. Remove all the carpet and sound-absorbing materials. Remove the seats, AC, and stereo/speakers. Remove the door beams and bumpers (not the plastic covers; the metal underneath). Mind you, I wouldn't recommend driving the car on the street if you remove any parts that contribute to crash-worthiness.

thanks, I'm trying to get the best time out of an almost stock engine. So far I've pulled a 15.1 at 91 mph. Pretty good for an almost stock Alero.

looks like he photochopped the alero from the shock towers back with that of a honda engine bay from the engine forward... why I have no bunnying clue.

And merely stripping a mid-size sedan/coupe to it's lightest weight while staying street legal won't net you a whole lot of weight loss. A stripped interior and some other minor things are about as good as you can get. Cutting of chassis bracing and bumpers will net you another 100lbs or so but then it's not technically street legal. If you arent worried about street legality refer to that article where they took a nissan sentra and used a sawsall to strip all excess metal off the car B)
