Here's a video of before and after installing an AEM Short Ram intake on my fiance's Alero. I also posted it in the 2.4 section, but I figured more people would get to see it here.

If a picture is worth a thousand words then I'd say a video is worth a thousand pictures. It's awesome to be able to see the two compared like that. Nice one Shorty  . My only suggestion would be to re-encode that video so it's smaller than 12.8MB for a 49 sec clip

wwoooooohooooooooo!!! responses!! Actually, I realized about an hour later that the car doesn't actually belong to us yet, so that may have been dumb to do, but oh well. No, that is the only mod the car has and yes, that is the only difference besides like an hour and a half of time passed. I made sure I set up the camera in the same exact spot so everything would be accurate...I wanted to do 0-60 runs on the G-tech before and after, but we never did. When my fiance revved the car up after we got done, I about shat at how loud it is. It is only this loud with the hood up, though, as far as I can tell. I need some new capture equipment, but that is the smallest that I can make it without losing even more sound and video quality. I have some more videos of it if you guys wanna see em. Keep the comments coming!!

That's about what my CAI sounds like IN the car :P Nice comparison.

I can't believe how much the engine flexes, we need to get someone to make better mounts.

Those revs before the intake was installed were pretty hard revs, so that's not so bad. I think that harder ones might kind of suck in a way.

Are you refering to the stiffer mounts comment? because stiffer mounts accually can increase your power #'s at the wheels.. reason being is that with less flex in the transaxle less engine power is being wasted by flex, more of it is transmited to the ground... makes the engine more noticeble but w.e...lol

I had thought that stiffer mounts were mainly for highly modded cars and helped to stop wheel hop in manual trans cars. Oh well.

hey shorty how about another video??

Ideas:
1. Take a shot standing next to the car with hood down and idle and rev.
2. Stand like 8 feet back and rev--for sound capability.
3. Sit inside the car with no accessories running and rev.
4. Sit inside the car with the A/C running and rev.

Thanks!!!

If I rememebr, I will do that...if I don't, PM me and make me do it. I agree wuth you though, there should be some more shots. If it helps, at normal driving revs it sounds fairly quiet, but today she hammered it and I thought I was gonna go deaf, but I think I was used to quiet sounds, so it just came as a surprise. I have received a lot of compliments, and I think they dida great job on the powdercoat...it looks exactly like the "Metalcast" anodized paint I have.

i got about the same tone difference by just taking the air intake off from the battery right after the air filter box. but i did replace the factory air filter for an AEM one. just for those that want to save some $$$ and still sound throaty... B)

usually K&N. I think he got it from APOC. That or AEM. K&N are the standard filters that come with intakes
