loud knocking
knocking sound from engine bay sounds like rod knock. power steering pump is out, but it dosent sound good. im assumeing its done but any one thats herd the same, throw what you think.

i'd check the oil level first,the 3400 do have a lil knowck while warming up over time too.

just changed it today its the 2.2 put in 4.5 quarts still makes the noise. the noise started after the pump went out and has gotten worse. its in the shop now so we will see soon just wondering if any one knows anything so i can sleep this week.

well, I do know the 2.2 uses 5 or more quarts of oil. Any check engine codes?

ses is on but i think that thats the wheel speed sensor since my trac off light is allways on and abs dosent work. i checked the who changes there own oil on the 2.2 thread and most ppl were saying to go off the dip stick, and it looks good on the stick. I used a 5 quart jug so it was probbely more like 4.7 there was a little something left in it.

yes, that sh!t was so loud i really thought she was done but i guess the internals of the pump let loose or something. very releaved cus when i got the car it was leased b4 and the previous owner dident change oil just put in more. the dealership said they cracked the head off and the block was cleaned , some sea foam treatment i think, eitherway it was taken care of under warrenty. so needless to say ive been real carefull with oil changes, so that noise scared the hell outta me.

wierd cause you can tell where the noise is coming from, how could you mistaken it lol. Atleast is fixed now

well theres still a knock i think ima be in the woods with this one for a while. top end is boggy, i think that its just gonna be a matter of time b4 she lets lose. anyone know of a good place for a rebuild? im in minnesota.
